Fleet Driver – Class C

EXPERIENCED Class C Fleet Driver to join our team!

The

Class C Fleet Driver will be responsible for operating company vehicles making deliveries and pickups according to the scheduled route and instructions given by the Driver Supervisor (DS). The Class B Fleet Driver will also be responsible for inspecting the equipment; operating it in compliance with the Safety rules, local and federal laws, DOT rules and regulations and company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Credentials

  • Driver must keep credentials up-to-date and have them in possession at all times (Driver’s license & medical exam card);

  • Driver must update their information with the Fleet department, informing on all changes;

Daily Equipment Inspection

  • Be on time at the report for duty location;

  • Completes a FMCSA compliant Pre-trip inspection every morning, before leaving the terminal yard.

  • Completes a FMCSA compliant Post trip inspection at the end of every shift and complete the Daily Vehicle Inspection Report.

  • Notifies your Driver Supervision If you notice any equipment defects or issues;

  • Brings all Inspection forms to the Driver Supervision to be filed;

Hour of Service

  • Driver is responsible to comply with all FMCSA Hours of Service regulations;

  • All logbooks shall be turned in at the end of the shift;

  • Drives safe and courteous following the truck routes;

  • Back up and maneuver the equipment cautiously being aware of any obstacles or possible dangers;

Truck Maintenance

  • Keep the cab area clean and orderly at all times;

  • Operate safely and point out any issue/problem to the DS to be fixed;

Pickups and Deliveries

  • Be on time for all work assignments – contact the DS for any delays.

  • Check the freight before delivery checking:

  • Correct freight

  • Correct quantity

  • If delayed at delivery or pickup notify DS.

  • Making sure all bills are signed correctly (quantities, products, destination, weight, pallet count, etc.) – notify DS of any discrepancies;

  • Hand load & unload product as necessary.

  • Load/unload by pallet jack as necessary.

  • Report immediately any damage made to our equipment by shippers or consignees while loading/unloading.

  • Turn in all paperwork upon arrival back at the terminal and give originals to the DS;

  • Contact the DS if any shortage or damaged freight;

Safety

  • Employee shall comply with all responsibilities as outlined within the Safety Manual;

  • Employee shall comply with all responsibilities as outlined within Driver Handbook;

Securing Freight

  • Keep 3 straps in the truck at all times;

  • Secure all freight at all times;

  • Comply with all FMCSA Cargo Securement regulations;

Reports Directly To

  • Fleet Manager (compliance issues)

  • Driver Supervisor (dispatch issues and schedule)

Miscellaneous

  • Performs others duties instructed by your supervisor;

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have a Class C (Straight Truck 26K+) driver license;

  • Must have a Current Medical Card (must be physically fit to drive);

  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations pertaining to driving a commercial truck and with all Transamerican Auto Parts, LLC company policies;

  • Must have general knowledge of trucks and trailers;

  • Ability to load or unload by hand a maximum of 100lbs;

  • Ability to load or unload by pallet jack a maximum of 2,000lbs (may be reduced subject to circumstantial conditions);

  • Ability to follow directions and established procedures;
