What You'll Do
The Mechanical Engineer Manager will own an energized team of Mechanical Engineers supporting the majority of Cisco's key Routing and Cable products. This team provides new product and ongoing engineering support for a Core/Edge Routing products, HFC/CMTS Cable products and Mobility Packet Core Products.
This role handles designs from conception through end of life. This role interfaces and partners closely with Mechanical Design Engineering, Hardware & Compliance Engineering, extended partners within Supply Chain Operations and the Contract Manufacturing partners to own the NPI and sustaining product support requirements.
New Product Introduction responsibilities (NPI) involve influence and action related to the optimal Cost, Quality and Delivery of the products throughout the supply chain and customer environment. DfX is a primary focus area involving design for manufacturability, assembly, test, cost, quality, supply chain and customer use within the new product development process.
Sustaining product engineering responsibilities are highly focused to Value Engineering and technical expertise to support action and issues found during the lifecycle of the product In addition to leading this team, this role focuses on developing Cisco's Digital Development process for mechanical design. This includes automated DFM, 3-D printing, and digitized engineering processes.

Key responsibilities include:
Represent, run, and develop team of mechanical product engineers
Accountable for Mechanical Product Engineering strategies based on Dfx(M,C,Q) philosophies and tools/processes/systems that meet cost, quality, delivery, and customer sat needs
Drive mechanical NPI process consistency, quality impacting activities to ensure meeting quality, cost and delivery goals
Engage with central mechanical and quality organizations to translate broader initiatives to Enterprise routing space specific actions.
Evaluate and embrace new tools and processes to drive team efficiency and productivity.
Who You'll Work With
In this role, you will work with a large cross section of Engineering Teams, Supply Chain Partners, as well as other Supply Chain functions to develop leading edge products. Your team will be working in every aspect of mechanical industry from tooling, advanced thermal technology, high speed manufacturing processes and advanced 3D modeling techniques. Lead groundbreaking design in all of these areas.

You are a strong leader who is able to Collaborate, Execute, Accelerate & Disrupt. You have a deep understanding of Product Data Management (PDM) principles, processes, tools and are an authority in negotiating and resolving conflict effectively. This is an amazing opportunity for an engineer with strong program/project management skills, who can recognizes industry trends and drives adoption of new processes and technology(e.g. 3d Printing, Thermal Management, DFM Pro, Design State, MBD, Tolerance Analysis etc) into mechanical Communities and partner organizations. You are actively engaged and contribute to the Mech Council and builds effective relationships and influences partner orgs (Eng, CE, GSM, GMO, EMS partners). You will bring a deep understanding of adjacent tech functions/roles (e.g. TDE,EPE,SCPM, MfgE) and ability to expand clear speaking, written and presentation skills to technical, management & executive audiences. You will make critical decisions that impact Product revenue and release. Bring your ideas, innovative and think creatively. BS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, Masters in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred
8+ years’ experience within product development, engineering and/or supply chain
Deep understanding of MCAD tools.
Strong knowledge and expertise in all aspects of DFX, Cost avoidance and Value Engineering.
