The eBay Selling Design team has an opportunity for an exceptional design candidate to lead the re-visioning of our consumer selling experience across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate would demonstrate an ability to craft beautifully simple, engaging and meaningful experiences within a complex ecosystem across any device. He/she would have a deep understanding of design principles, be current with interaction trends and exhibit technical savvy. Prior experience creating and implementing interfaces within agile is a must.
We’re looking for a passionate designer, a master of their craft, to join a larger project team in defining a new chapter in Selling on eBay. You will be an inspired partner to a group of designers, researchers and content strategists committed to developing innovative, beyond-easy-to-use, best-of-breed mobile & desktop products for our customers.
UX Foundations: Strong creative, conceptual and problem-solving skills to translate conceptual ideas (business needs and user goals) into best-in-class interaction and design solutions.
Team spirit: Work collaboratively with cross-functional team of Product Managers, Engineers, Marketing and Research to define the best user experience for our Selling products.
Process for good: You will work within, and push for, strong agile processes and ways of working that support thinking outside of the box, while meeting sprint deadlines.
Holistic solutioning: Champion a cohesiveness flow with multiple design touchpoints. Bring a 10,000ft view perspective to influence teams working at the 10ft level. Ensure that multiple Selling experience touchpoints maintain a cohesive quality that maps to our design principles.
Master of your craft: Ability to translate user goals and behaviors into artfully crafted design ideas. Able to create workflow diagrams, wireframes, and mock-ups rapidly and at the right level of fidelity (e.g., sketching and white boarding, to IxD modeling for dev, to polished visual deliverables and richly animated keynote proposals that tell compelling UX stories.)
Information gatherer: Assess data from multiple sources (product requirements, tech constraints, UX research, web analytics) and synthesize it in order to develop efficient user scenarios, taxonomies, navigation systems, design patterns, etc.
User Centricity: Help define, request and incorporate relevant and recent UX research and data from customers to appropriately inform design decisions. Help establish UX guidelines and style across platforms.
Design Intuition: Be passionate about metrics, but have confidence in making judgment calls. Be uncompromising on creating a compelling product and user experience founded in usability, efficiency, and scalability.
Mentor & Lead by example: Coach and guide other designers in the relentless push to produce ideas and solutions that go beyond what is being asked for. Work with the Selling UX Director to shape and grow the Selling design team with new talent and a balance of skills.
Experience in leading holistic design solutions across mobile and desktop devices. Designing for eCommerce a plus.
A portfolio that exhibits solid architectural and detailed design thinking in regards to the overall user experience, a solid grasp of information architecture, web, and mobile technologies, and expert implementation of the visual design.
Experience working in agile required, with a successful track record of partnering with dev to see concepts through to implementation.
Expert level ability in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, Keynote. Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, Design prototyping tools, and other web technologies.
Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or related discipline
5-7 years experience Designing for similar companies in the industry.
